Why Do We Believe in Fake News?

A recent investigation by Pagella Politica and Facta goes deeper into the human inclination to believe in fake news. The authors suggest that our cognitive mechanisms and brain properties favour the success of the misinformation and disinformation campaigns. They explain the event with four basic cognitive layers - motivated cognition, frames as thinking contexts, equivalency and emphasis frames, and systemic causality.
